The political prisoner's father told what Dzmitry Paliyenka writes in his letters.

The father of political prisoner Dzmitry Paliyenka has told the website palitviazni.info what his son writes in the letters to the outside.

"In the first place, he is worried about his health condition," - Aliaksandr Paliyenka says. "The wound on the leg wouldn't cure, and the doctors have no idea what to do with it," - he adds. "I last had a meeting with him last year, and I am going to visit him again closer to May 26, which is his birthday."

Mr. Paliyenka St. got a letter from his son from the penal colony literally several days ago.

"Thank you for the parcel," - Dzmitry Paliyenka writes. " You will not be able to visit me on May 26, as no meetings are held on weekends. So, you can consider changing your plans for May 25 or 28. However, they won't accept any parcel on these days, as the next parcel will be approved only since June. As for the health, I don't have good news here - the problems with the leg remain, maybe its even sphacelism... The wound doesn't seem complicated, but it wouldn't cure. I've been visiting the doctor for the seventh month. As soon as I know something more specific, I will write to you which medicines I am going to need, so you could sent them."

In the end of the letter Dzmitry reminds that March 25 is a glorious date in the Belarusian history.

"Be sure you come to celebrate it!" - Dzmitry advises to his fatehr.

Dzmitry Paliyenka is a civil activist from Minsk. The reason for the prosecution was his participation in a peaceful assembly "Critical Mass", which took place on April 29, 2016 in Minsk and was interrupted by the police.

On October 12, 2016 the Central district court of Minsk found him guilty of having committed a crime under article 364 of the Criminal Code (violence or threat of violence against law enforcement officers) and Part 2 of Article 343 of the Criminal Code (production and distribution of pornographic materials or pornographic items ). Dzmitry Paliyenka was sentenced to two-year imprisonment with suspension of sentence for two years.

On April 7, 2017 the Zavodzki district court of Minsk considered the report of the authority which monitored the behavior of the convict, and abolished the suspension of the sentence. In this context, without the right to appeal, the activist was sent to the penal colony to serve his sentence of imprisonment for a term of 1.5 years (considering the term he had spent in custody in 2016).
