Rechytsa Military Enlistment Office Publishes Names, Addresses Of Draft Dodgers In Press

The Rechytsa military enlistment office chose quite an unusual way of influencing those unwilling to serve in the army.

Head of the military draft department of the military commissariat of the Rechytsa and Loyeu districts Uladzimir Osipau published a hard-hitting article in the local newspaper Dniaprovets, in which he revealed the names and addresses of draft dodgers, 18 people in total.

"Regardless of all the informational and propagandist work done, holding explanatory conversations, numerous warnings, some draftees do not want to even listen about their obligations before the state, all they care about is their rights. No persuasion about the necessity of the military service seems to reach them, they have only one motivation — to earn money," — the author of the article claims.

Osipau makes a conclusion that much depends on the upbringing in the family, complains that the draft dodgers are often supported by their parents in what they do: "The parents convince the draftees that it is not necessary to serve in the army, and tell the officers of the military enlistment office to leave their sons alone and not to interfere with their work and family support".

Then the head of the military enlistment office reveals the personal data of 18 draftees who have not come to the office when summoned: "The residents of the Rechytsa district will find it interesting to know the names of those who are trying to pass the military service "distantly", sitting it out, thinking that defending their Motherland is an honourable obligation, but not theirs."

All of them, as well as other potential objectors, were reminded that they are facing administrative responsibility including a fine of up to 5 base fees for the failure to appear in the military enlistment office; and criminal liability from a fine to imprisonment of up to two year for the evasion from the military draft measures.
