Applications For Rallies On #BNR100 Filed In Baranavichy, Vitsebsk, Mahiliou

In all the applications the activists asked to allow events on March 25.

On March 7, members of the movement For Freedom filed applications for rallies dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of the Belarusian People's Republic in four cities: Baranavichy, Vitsebsk, and Mahiliou, Radio Liberty reports.

In all the applications the activists asked to allow events on March 25. In Baranavichy, the application for a street festival, a fair and a rally was filed (Brest regional coordinator of the movement Yury Kazakevich is to meet with the deputy chairman of the city executive committee today).

In Vitsebsk, they asked to allow a rally and a concert (the application is submitted on behalf of the regional organization of the BPF Party), the plan includes laying flowers and an evening concert at a private estate.

In Mahiliou, the application was submitted for an information picket in the city center, a tour of the city places associated with the BPR, a concert, as well as a round table "Ways of Establishing of the Belarusian Statehood." According to Aliaksandr Solkou of the For Freedom movement, they applied for a picket near the Peramoha movie theater on Leninskaya pedestrian street, although the practice of appealing to officials shows that if the stadium in Chaliuskintsau Street is not listed in an application, this becomes the basis for its rejection. However, in an appeal to the authorities the activists cited the example of Minsk, where they allowed a concert in the center of the city, near the Opera Theatre. The events dedicated to the BPR will last until March 31 - on this day of 1918 the city community supported the proclamation of the independence of the Belarusian People's Republic, at the meeting.

In Slutsk, coordinator of the For Freedom movement in Minsk region Vital Amialkovich offered the city executive committee "to join the celebration", to create a regional organizing committee for the celebrations (even throughout 2018). The activists will also prepare their actions.

In the meantime, a demonstration-concert near the Opera Theater on March 25, and a rally in the Kieuski Park on March 24 were allowed in Minsk, a repeated application for a march through the center of the city was filed.

Earlier in Brest, members of the local organizing committee applied to hold a rally and a street festival in the center of the city on March 25 with a concert, artisan sites, master classes and photo zones.

The Hrodna city authorities previously verbally agreed to a concert and rally, and the regional authorities even sent letters to all regional museums with a recommendation to hold creative events for the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of the BPR.

In Homel, no rallies are scheduled for March 25 so far. The local organizing committee had previously planned an excursion and a small concert-quiz at the local socio-political center with the participation of bard-singer Volha Tsiareshchanka, as previously the local authorities did not cooperate. However, the UCP activist Uladzimir Katsora says, after the news about the permission of the concert in Minsk, the Homel organizing committee applied for a big concert in the city center of culture, and are looking for more performers. If a big concert is banned, Tsiareshchanka's performance remains a backup option.
