Brest Bloggers Win the Lawsuit

The regional court did not recognize Facebook and YouTube media.

The judge of the Brest Regional Court Ruslan Senko falsified the decision of the judge of the Pinsk District Court Volha Lubnik delivered against bloggers Siarhei Pyatrukhin and Aliaksandr Kabanau, Radio Racyja informs.

"Thus, the judge did not recognize Facebook and Youtube media, as opposed to the decision of colleagues from Pinsk", bloggers pointed out.

"Speaking frankly, we had doubts. It is clear that the case was spinned out of thin air. There was no reason to fine us. But we have a "special" court. I think that the judge of the Brest regional court did not risk to leave the case for the Supreme Court," Aliaksandr Kabanau says.

"Apart from competence of the Pinsk District Court, I doubt one of the legal advisor of EXIDE company Aliaksandr Yunkevich, his statement caused the litigation," people who came to support Kabanau and Pyatrukhin say.

It will be recalled that On March 12 the court of Pinsk District and the city of Pinsk heard the administrative cases of Brest bloggers Siarhei Pyatrukhin and Aliaksandr Kabanau and found them "guilty of illegal production and dissemination of media products" (Part 2, Article 22.9 of the Administrative Code), and fined them 40 basic units (980 rubles) each.

The fine is imposed for broadcast live during the visit to the Exide battery plant in Pinsk.
