Volha Chaichyts: We Are Changing Situation

The authorities continue to fine Belsat journalists in a massive way.

Belsat correspondent Volha Chaichyts and operator Andrei Kozel wre once again fined for working without accreditation (40 basic units each). Since early 2018, there have been about 30 lawsuits against Belsat journalists.

"There have been so many trials that our colleagues stopped paying attention to them. Indeed – for how long you can continue writing about Belsat journalists’ trials. We haven’t been to today's one, as there is no point in it. They never listen to us, the decisions are made in favor of the authorities," – Volha Chaichyts, a guest of the Hot Commentary, says.

According to Chaichyts, this is done, because the journalists force the authorities to react to the problems that exist in Belarus.

"We change the situation with our reports, and this is unacceptable for the authorities. That is why the independent journalism is pressed so hard... The authorities impose fines endlessly just to show who is in command here," – she says.
