SIARHEI PIATRUKHIN

Brest blogger paid huge fines thanks to people's help.

In total, the blogger from Brest Siarhei Piatrukhin paid 2 327 rubles on April 20. All this money is donations from people, Brestskaya Hazeta writes.

Siarhei Piatrukhin, who was repeatedly fined for large amounts over the past few months, paid the fines. According to the receipts, he paid a total of 2,327 rubles at the bank's cash desk on April 20.

"Many thanks to all those who collected money for my fines. Most of all I am pleased that people showed solidarity in this way, that they did not leave me alone. And, I hope, will not leave Aliaksandr Kabanau as well, who appeals one of his fines in the regional court tomorrow. Together we are power. If these penalties came upon me, I wouldn't be able to pay them, being unemployed and oppressed by the authorities. I want to note that even people from Minsk helped," – Siarhei Piatrukhin said on April 25.

We remind, that at the end of March the court of the Leninski district of Brest found the blogger guilty under Article 23.4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (disobedience to the lawful order or demand of an official) and fined him with 45 basic units.

In late February, Siarhei Piatrukhin and another blogger, Aliaksandr Kabanau, were found guilty under Part 3 of Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the procedure for organizing or holding mass events) and were fined 50 basic units each.

In addition, on 12 March, the court of Pinsk and the Pinsk region fined the bloggers for 40 basic units (980 rubles) each, finding them guilty of the illegal production and distribution of media products (Part 2, Article 22.9 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). We're talking about direct video broadcasts, which Piatrukhin and Kabanau shot at the checkpoint of the battery production plant in Pinsk. However, they successfully appealed this decision to a higher court and the fine was removed.
