Activists Of Mothers 328 Movement Declared Indefinite Hunger Strike

The mothers of prisoners under Article 328 struggle for liberalization of the legislation.

Activists of the Mothers 328 Movement have announced an indefinite hunger strike: they demand to soften the punishment for minors who have been convicted for the distribution of drugs, citydog.by writes.

The mothers ask to review unfair sentences against minors:

– People, think it over, can a 14-year-old boy organize illicit trafficking in drugs? He's a victim. Think about the fact that there are no other people's children, – activist Tatsiana Kaneuskaya says.

The Mothers 328 Movement does not agree with the fact that minors are sentenced to the same terms as adults. According to the participants of the campaign, the terms of imprisonment for possession and distribution of drugs for adolescents are too large. Activists believe that the investigation and the police used illegal methods and provocations.

The hunger strike will start tomorrow, but its place has not been reported yet. It is known that about 20 people from Babruisk, Homel, Zhlobin, Marjina Horka and Minsk will take part in it. The hunger strike participants demand a meeting with Lukashenka.

– We do not believe any of your officials. The evidence is the kilograms of formal replies to our appeals that we have receive from various authorities. Only you can stop it... – Tatsiana Kaneuskaya addresses the president.

According to the activist, today about 16,000 people convicted under drug-related articles are serving their sentences in prison.
