Tatsiana Novikava: Nobody Asked Belarusians Whether They Wanted BelNPP

The Astravets nuclear power plant is constructed in violation of all international norms.

Tatsiana Novikava, a member of the Ecohouse Council and coordinator of the Belarusian anti-nuclear campaign, stated that during Charnobylski Shliakh in Minsk:

– My poster says: "Only 32 Years Since The Explosion." 32 years is a very short time. Why? The decay period of radioactive iodine, which is dangerous for the thyroid gland, is several million years. Strontium and cesium remain dangerous for about three hundred years.

32 years is a negligibly small period. Despite this, the Astravets nuclear power reactor is getting ready to start, it is being built in violation of all international norms, neglecting safety arrangements, accidents occur there, the reactor fell down, fires occur. The Belarusians were not asked if they wanted this station.

It is very important to remember the tragedy and remind of it constantly, because people have a very short memory.
