Why didn't the suicidal chairman fit into the system?

In the Shklou district, everyone is in mourning for Chairman of the agroholding "Kupalauskaye" Dzmitry Vasileuski. "He is not a crook or a thief," said the local resident and candidate of economic sciences Piotr Miрurski to udf.by.

Dzmitry Vasileuski was considered a successful and promising leader. For a long time he headed the experimental base "Spartak" in the Shklou district. With him, the economy became the foremost.

"Vasileuski was renown. He is not a crook or a thief," - Piotr Mihurski, candidate of economic sciences, tells journalists.

"All around him were bosses, and he was alone." The head of the agroholding was found hanged in the Shklou district.

Vasileuski was awarded the medal "For Labor Merits" and was recognized as the "Person of the Year" in the Shklou district. Seeing his successes, the authorities appointed a 43-year-old perspective manager as a chairman of the Drybin district executive committee. But he worked there for only two years.

"When he was appointed, some indices of hte district started crawling down. They said then that Vasileuski didn't work well. It wasn't that he worked badly, it happened because he never did doctored records and prohibited others to do this. He warned the heads of farms that if they do any doctored records, they cannot come to him for protection, " - Mihurski says.

The economist says that for agricultural enterprises this is a common thing. A relative of Mihurski works at the complex and informs that he is supposed to add up a fictional ton of milk to daily records. This creates a semblance of well-being, which is not really there.

"Of course, Vasileuski, with his honesty, did not fit in the scheme. Perhaps this has put an end to his career promotion, " - Piotr Mihurski believes.

"We worked without wages for two months"

In early 2018, Vasileuski was returned to the Shklou district - to manage the "Kupalauskaye" LLC. Initially, it was clear that this is a super-irresponsible object. In the middle of last year, at the request of Aliaksandr Lukashenka, they decided to create a new holding to show "what kind of agricultural production should be in the 21st century".

The "Kupalauskaye" was the result of the merger of the farms "Amkador-Shklou", "Bolshie Slaveni" and "Navaharadzishchanskaye".

"The man was on takeoff and suddenly he is appointed director of the "Kupalauskaye" LLC. In reality there is no economy! There are three farms of different organizational forms, run by ambitious managers. Until now, they have not agreed on how "Kupalauskaye" LLC will earn money. For two months Vasileuski worked and did not receive a salary. He drove his own car. And he had two children and an unemployed wife," - says Piotr Mihurski.

The economist explains that the economy was only being created, and the chairman could not take money for himself on his salary from investments. Recently, the pressure on Vasileuski from the local authorities intensified.

"He was warned that in May they are waiting for the president with a check. And he, of course, will demand a report for the work of the "Kupalauskaye" LLC. And from whom will he demand it? The Minister? The chairman of the regional executive committee or district executive committee? Of course, the head of the economy. Most likely, this combination of circumstances led to the fact that a person took such a cardinal decision for himself," - the candidate of economic sciences does not rule out.

Piotr Mihurski generally believes that the expediency of creating a holding is questionable. And if it had to be created, then it should have been done differently - to take Amkador Shklou as a parent company and add other farms to it.

"It was not necessary to create additional administrative structures. My native village is at the territory of Kupalauskaye. So, ordinary people say that this is just a large-scale project on money laundering. Why build new farms and complexes - everything is already there. Many organizational moments have not yet been resolved. As a matter of fact, to take the post of the head is like being in the hit list," - the economist said.

Piotr Mihurski regrets that at a difficult moment, no one helped Dzmitry Vasileuski to cope with stress and prompted the right decision.

"He would better put his labor record book on the table and leave. Every day, hundreds of people leave and survive without committing suicide. The whole district is discussing this tragedy. Vasileuski had two children-students. I cannot understand how this could happen to a talented and decent leader, " - says the resident of the Shklou district.
