Whatever the dictator does, nothing works.

One of the leaders of the Belarusian National Congress, coordinator of the European Belarus civil campaign Yauhen Afnahel said this to Charter97.org, commenting upon the failure of the Belarus national ice hockey team at the IHWC-2018, after which Belarusians had to leave the elite division:

- In fact, there is nothing surprising about the fact that the Belarusian hockey team flew out of the elite division, no. Everything was pointing on that. Given that ice hockey under the aegis of Lukashenka was the "sport number 1" in the country, in the last ten years only in 2014 and 2015 the team managed to reach the ¼ finals at the World Championship. Last year, and the year before last year, Belarusians miraculously stayed in the top division, having won two matches out of seven.

By the way, it's interesting to read the comments on the Internet, in social networks - it feels like the whole country supported Austria during the last match. In normal countries, people always support their national teams. Here, people associate hockey only with the dictator and useless ice palaces across all country. Therefore, they are cheering for rivals, and they want them to win, knowing how Lukashenka took up a lot in our country. Woodworking - and now Belarusians bring furniture from "Ikea". Agriculture - we have to buy Egyptian potatoes and Polish apples. The "construction of the century", which now only neighbors can be frightened with now; the space exploration, automotive industry, import substitution, "Eurovision" - nothing works. Nothing at all.

Simply, both Lukashenka and his methods of management are hopelessly obsolete, and this related not only to ice hockey. Therefore, while he is at power, nothing good will happen in any direction he will still be willing to handle.
