The rally will take place in the square, where the opponents of the plant feed pigeons every Sunday.

Another application for holding a rally in the city against the battery plant "I-Power" was filed to the Brest City Executive Committee on May 25. The authors of the application are three residents of the city of Brest. In accordance with the law "On Mass Events in the Republic of Belarus" they ask the authorities to give permission to hold a rally in the Lenin Square, Brestskaya Gazetawrites.

"The purpose of the mass event is protest against the plant of lead-acid batteries "I-Power", which is built contrary to the opinion of the residents of the city of Brest and Brest region," - the application said.

The planned number of participants is 500 people.

Since March, the city dwellers and the residents of the region regularly go to the Lenin Square to feed pigeons in order to draw the attention of the authorities and the public to the situation around the plant. For the first time, up to 150-200 people took part in the veiled protest, but after the Freedom Day their number decreased significantly. Some of those who came to the square for this were brought to administrative responsibility, others were summoned to the police to give explanations and preventive talks about the inadmissibility of violating the legislation on mass events.

At the end of April, in the park of soldiers-internationalists in Brest, a rally "Brest Ladies Against Lead", authorized by the authorities, was held. About 2,000 people took part in it. Four residents of Brest and the district achieved holding this event.

A similar application was filed on March 15 to the City Executive Committee by male activists, but the authorities declined it.

Four residents of Brest and the district are waiting for a response from the authorities any day now. On May 14, they filed an application to the city executive committee to hold a demonstration and rally in the city under the general title "March Against Lead".
