Locals Stood Out For The Park In Borisov

Borisov Eparchy abandoned the idea to build a church in a recreation zone.

Tut.by informs.

"Initially, the initiative group planned to improve the land plot between residential buildings and decorate it with the church. While discussion of this project not all residents of the microdistrict welcomed this proposal; unfortunately, this project has no prospects, the press-service's official statement of the Borisov Eparchy says. - At the same time, opponents of the church construction, as a rule, do not experience hostile feelings towards the church as such.

In this regard, the Borisov Eparchy of the Belarusian Orthodox Church has decided to abandon the allotted plot of land. A good, charitable deed cannot be committed in conditions of confrontation, disagreements and mutual grievances."

It will be recalled that the decision of the Borisov District Executive Committee to allocate a large land plot of the recreation area on Vatulina Street for the construction of a temple complex involving the church, the church shop and Sunday school caused rejection among many residents of the microdistrict.

Residents on Vatutina Street actively fought for their recreation zone, opposing the construction of the temple complex. People protested not against the church, but against any construction works in the the pine forest, which locates among the residential multi-storey buildings. They believed that "the construction works in the recreation zone is illegal", they even made a video appeal to the local authorities and media.
