This is how the Belarusians’ pensions stack up against those of our neighbors.

According to official statistics, the average May pension in Belarus was 340.53 rubles. The tut.by portal looked at how the Belarusians’ pensions stack up against those of our neighbors.

In Russia, the average size of pensions from January to April 2018 was 428 rubles (all amounts in the text were converted to Belarusian rubles at the rate of the National Bank on June 15). Almost 43 million pensioners live in the country, about 40 million of them receive old-age insurance pensions. In 2018, the average size of such a pension was 423 rubles.

We remind that from 2019, Russia will start raising the retirement age with a transition period, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has informed.

The Russian government proposes to increase gradually the retirement age up to 65 years for men and 63 years for women. The transition period will begin in 2019 and will last until 2028 for men and until 2034 for women.

Now the average old-age pension in Lithuania is 724 rubles, in Latvia – 762 rubles. In the first quarter of 2018, the average old-age pension in Estonia was 984 rubles per month. This is 6% higher than a year earlier.

In Poland, the average size of pensions in February was 1159 rubles.
