Former MIA Minister, Against Whom They Wanted To Initiate Case For Beating Up Lukashenka, Died

Uladzimir Danko died at the age of 77.

Former Interior Minister Uladzimir Danko died at the age of 77, nn.by writes.

U. Danko was born in the village of Servech, Karelichy district, Hrodna region on December 14, 1941.

He started serving in the internal affairs bodies as a senior inspector of the Frunzenski district police department in 1965. In 1981 - 1985, he was Deputy Chief, then Head of the Public Order Protection Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the BSSR; in 1985-1991 – Head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Hrodna Region Executive Committee. Since 1991 – Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. In 1994, he headed the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus; in 1995 – 1999 – Head of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.

Here’s an interesting fact from Danko’s biography. In 1994, a criminal case was almost initiated against him... for beating up Aliaksandr Lukashenka.

The naviny.by publication notes that the police did not let Lukashenka, who was "a step away from" the presidency, in his sealed cabinet in the Supreme Council. As a result, Lukashenka’s jacket was torn and he himself got a couple of bruises.

Who gave the order to the policeman is unknown. One theory is that it was Uladzimir Danko, but there was no evidence to prove it.
