The doctor was taken red-handed.

The police detained the head of the City Clinical Pathology and Anesthesia Bureau red-handed when receiving bribes. This was reported by the department’s press service.

The Minsk chief pathologist received the money – 5245 rubles and 300 US dollars – from a representative of the commercial structure for the favorable resolution of issues on concluding contracts to supply ritual goods to a store located on the territory of the organization and timely payment for the delivered goods.

"The information about the corrupt activities of the person involved was received by the operations staff at the end of May. In the course of the carried out investigation, it was established that bribes were transferred both in Belarusian rubles and in foreign currency, the bureau head had been receiving them for more than ten years. The total amount was tens of thousands of US dollars. The size of the monthly "remuneration" was 10% of the amount of the delivered goods," – the department informed.

As the operatives note, recently the involvant was cautious: he tried to receive money quarterly to reduce the number of meetings with the commercial structure representatives.

Currently, the investigation is underway to establish other facts of his illegal activities. The police have already documented numerous facts of receiving money by the defendant from representatives of commercial structures. The amount incriminated is not less than 200 thousand US dollars.

A criminal case was filed against the chief pathologist of Minsk under Part 3 of Art. 430 of the Criminal Code of Belarus ("Taking a bribe in a particularly large amount").

The sanction of this article provides for punishment of up to 15 years of imprisonment. The police chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
