Another Verdict For Hazing Adjudged In Barysau

One of the crime episodes occurred at the firing ground.

Another verdict for hazing was passed in Barysau. A soldier, who beat up a serviceman of a later draft at the firing ground, was sent to a general regime penal colony for 1 year and 3 months, Euroradio reports.

The Barysau district court found the young man guilty of violence against the military, "with whom he didn’t have power relationship." The verdict can be appealed. Before it was proclaimed, the soldier had been under a written undertaking not to leave the place, he was taken into custody in the courtroom.

It is known that one of the episodes of the crime occurred at the firing ground in Barysau. The military lived there in tents, and the convict was then on duty and decided to demonstrate his "authority." He grabbed the young soldier by the sleeve and dragged him to the place for washing. There the attacker beat up the military man – he kicked his thigh, the lower part of the body. When the soldier fell down, the orderly hit him over the steel helmet that was on his head.

This and other trials on the cases of "hazing" started after the death of soldier Aliaksandr Korzhych in Pechy. Mass checks were carried out in the army, following their results, fifty criminal cases were opened. In early June, the Pukhavichy District Court passed a verdict in the case of a junior sergeant from the support battalion, he was sentenced to three years in a colony with a reinforced regime for abuse of authority. One of these days, the Barysau district court passed the same sentence to the senior lieutenant from Pechy for a similar crime.
