The Prosecutor's Office forwarded a criminal case accusing the former director of "correctional institution number 5" to the court. He is charged with having committed a crime against the interests of service. It is reported by the press-center of the Prosecutor General.

Former director of the republican unitary enterprise "correctional institution number 5" in Ivatsevichy is accused of taking bribes on a large scale.

"The defendant is incriminated with the fact that he, being an official, acting out of selfish motives, in the period from March 17, 2009 till March 4, 2013 received from the representative of the French company 207 365 euros as a bribe. The subject of such an agreement was solving the questions connected with the conclusion and execution of contracts for shipment of the furniture, produced by the Belarusian enterprise, abroad ", - the institution claimed.

The defendant is held in custody. He faces up to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The the republican unitary enterprise "correctional institution number 5" of the Department of Corrections of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on Belarus (better known as correctional colony #5 or the reinforced-security penal colony for men in Ivatsevichy) is an entity of the correctional system.

"The enterprise was founded in 1986 with the aim of involvement of convicts into work and production, it is a production unit of Department of Corrections of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on Belarus", - reported on the website of the penal colony #5.
