US Chargé d'Affaires Robert Riley is completing his diplomatic mission in Belarus. The diplomat is leaving the country in mid July, tut.by writes.

Robert Riley arrived in Belarus in August 2016. Prior to his appointment to our country, he held the post of political adviser and was acting deputy ambassador of the United States in Hungary.

During the work of Riley, Belarusians were given the opportunity to receive all categories of American visas at the embassy in Minsk, which was unavailable for the last 10 years.

In March 2008, after the introduction of sanctions against the Belneftekhim Concern, the Ambassador of Belarus Mikhail Khvastou was withdrawn from Washington for consultations, and Ambassador Karen Stewart left Minsk at the insistence of the Belarusian side. The number of American diplomats in the country was reduced from 35 to five at the insistence of the Belarusian side.

In 2014, the Belarusian side allowed to increase the staff of the US Embassy to six people, and soon after that the American diplomatic mission expanded the list of visa services for Belarusian citizens.
