Will the Prime Minister remain in office after the "Vorsha scandal"?

At a consultative session in Vorsha this week, Lukashenka ordered to make proposals to him to replace "the entire government elite". UDF.BY asked the expert whether the Prime Minister Andrei Kabiakou will be dismissed after the two ministers and who can replace him as the head of the government.

Political scientist Lahvinets: Even Zharko could replace Kabiakou

The political scientist and founder of the public movement "Dzeja" Ales Lahvinets believes that a change in the leadership of the government will not change much in the country. In his opinion, it’s the state leader who is guilty of the economic failures of Belarus in the first place, and the actions of the government are just a derivative of his policy. It was Aliaksandr Lukashenka who built the system, which does not allow to develop.

The political analyst considers the public freakout in Vorsha as part of the PR campaign of Aliaksnadr Lukashenka, who wants to show that he is compelled to fight not only with external enemies, but also with internal enemies entrenched in the nomenclature - and the people, as you know, do not like the nomenclature. Thus, the head of the country supports the image of the people's president.

What personnel changes will follow the blowup in Vorsha? Ales Lahvinets does not rule out that everything will be limited to the replacement of several officials in the government. But Andrei Kabiakou can also be dismissed.

"Lukashenka can show him his proper place, as he did with Zharko, whom he publicly reprimanded, but avoid saying it was a blowup. The corruption scandal demonstrated that Zharko enjoyed a certain trust credit from Lukashenka, as the latter did not dismiss him for that,” said the political scientist.

Ales Lahvinets also says that he wonders whether a Belarus native would replace Andrei Kabiakou in case of his resignation. According to the political scientist, the head of the country trusts Kabiakou, also because he cannot run for the presidency of Belarus.
