The court has no evidence of the REP trade union leaders’ "guilt."

Chairman of the Human Rights Center Viasna Ales Bialiatski closely follows the events around the "trade unions’ case," often attends the court hearings, where the criminal case of REP trade union leaders Hennadz Fiadynich and Ihar Komlik is considered, the website of the HRC Viasna informs.

The human rights activist is convinced that the decision of the Savietski district court of Minsk, announced on August 24, will not be objective and fair. According to him, as a matter of fact, this is "a political crackdown on trade union leaders."

"The verdict proposed by the prosecutor to the court turns Fiadynich and Komlik into bridled horses with hopples on their legs, because the penal colony settlement means tough conditions, control and monitoring of convicts throughout the term. Such conditions do not allow carrying out social work, maintaining contacts with the partners abroad and limit their public activity," – the human rights activist said.

It should be noted that in 2011, a similar criminal case was instituted against Ales Bialiatski himself, which was regarded by the human rights and international community as a prosecution for his human rights activities.
