Lutsenko: There’s "Lead" In Sharamet’s Case

The new information might lead the investigation to the executors and customers.

Information that could lead to performers and customers has appeared in the case of journalist Pavel Sharamet’s murder. Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko said that in an interview to the Ukrainian Truth.

According to him, the investigation found a "lead" last month, which could help to answer, who killed Sharamet.

"The investigative activities have been very active... there are no suspects in this case, but I cannot say more in the interests of the investigation." We now have information that will probably lead us at least to performers, and then to the customers as well," – the Prosecutor General adds.

He also explains why the investigation does not reclassify Sharamet’s murder in a terrorist act.

"They believe that the explosive device was put in such a way as to hit only one person... If the explosive device is aimed at the driver and even theoretically cannot hit others, prosecutors and the investigator believe that this is not terrorism, they were taught so," – Lutsenko stresses.

We remind that Pavel Sharamet was killed on July 20, 2016 in a result of the explosion of his car in the center of Kiev. The Prosecutor General's Office calls the journalist’s death a murder.

Despite the presence of video recordings with the perpetrators of the journalist’s murder, law enforcement officials say that they do not have enough evidence to solve the case.

The police say that the investigation has established the person who may be involved in Sharamet’s murder, but he still is to be identified.
