Barysau Court Sentences Battalion Commander To Two Years In Penal Colony

The officer concealed the crimes of his subordinates.

The court of the Barysau district made a decision on the case of the commander of the 10th separate battalion of electronic warfare of the Northwest operational commandship, who was accused of inaction (Part 1, Article 455 of the Criminal Code), the website of the Supreme Court informs.

The message says that the accused S., at the post of the commander of the military unit, having received a report on the crimes committed, did not register it, did not consider it in due course, did not report to the senior commander (superior officer) on the commission of the crimes, did not appoint an official investigation, did not organize a check, did not notify the prosecutor of the Minsk region, did not initiate criminal cases and thereby concealed the crime committed by him.

The court found the battalion commander guilty of deliberate inaction of the authorities and sentenced him to 2 years of imprisonment in a penal colony under general regime conditions. The defendant must also pay a fine of 400 base fees (Bn 9800) to the state. He is also deprived of the right to hold positions related to the performance of organizational and administrative duties for the term of five years.

The accused has been taken into custody in the courtroom. The verdict has not entered into legal force and can be appealed.
