Viktor Shenderovich: My Historical Home Country Is Belarus

The Russian writer, publicist will perform in Minsk.

Famous Russian writer, satirist and TV-host Viktor Shenderovich posted on Facebook that he is going to give a concert in Minsk on October 25. The concert had been previously canceled.

- My historical homecountry is, of course, Belarus. My grandparents all come from there: Mazyr, Homel, Mahiliou, Babruisk. Moreover, miraculously, the actor who first played the main part in my theatrical piece about those Soviet-Jewish immigration introspections “Suffering Goldiner” in 2011 in Chicago, was a Minsker. Now it is being rehearsed in London by Aleh Sidorchyk and Nasatassia Zinovyeva, also Belarusians.

I worked on the theatrical piece “What the hell!” with Nastassia, and as wonderful Aleksiya Mankouskaya, this spring - it was pure happiness!

Actually, a great Belarusian theatrical company, headed by Uladzimir Shcherban, gathered at these foggy shores.

And while they are conquering Albion, I seem to finally be arriving to Minsk for a concert, previously canceled and reappointed after an okay from Viskuli, as His will is easily changing, and the plans remain unpredictable.

However, it’s not my business to slobber my finger and try to guess the wind direction. My business is to come to the historical homeland with a concert, if everything goes well…

So, dear Belarusians, I cordially invite you to meet with me on October 25 in Minsk. Also, there may be one more concert, either in Homel or in Vitsebsk…
