The opening of the national memorial under Lida turned into a holiday of "returning heroes' names."

A national monument to the rebels of 1863 was solemnly opened yesterday near Lida. The participants read aloud over 400 names of the participants of the uprising from the Lida district, the priests consecrated the memorial, the website Rukh.by reports.

"Such events should be held in order to remember the heroic events of our history," – the activist Siarhej Pantus, one of the organizers, said.

"The next step will be to get the authorities to recognize the monument," – the BNC activist Valery Minets said.
