REP Trade Union Defended Sellers Deceived By Homel District Consumers Society

The sellers are demanding the return of their property.

The Savietski district court of Homel has started the consideration of the claim lodged by former shop workers in the village of Tsahelnia, the Homel regional consumer union, Halina Anokhava and Maryna Marynchyna, about returning the refrigerators and the TV-set, which were bought on credit and then used to pay for the loss, Homel Viasna writes.

In this way the employers decided to cover their large "cash shortage" of BYN 5100. The girls worked at the store only three months. It transpired during the trial that the employer had already sold the household appliances bought on credit by the girls and submitted a report positing that he did not owe them money.

The interests of the plaintiffs in court were presented by REP Independent Trade Union legal inspector Leanid Sudalenka.

– We ask to collect from the consumer society not only the severance upon termination, but also raised the issue of requisitioning the refrigerators and TVs from illegal possession. From my experience I can say that people change in the Homel district consumers society, but the problem of the constant shortages remains. So the problem is not in the employees," – the trade union lawyer says.

The next court hearing will be held on 28 September.
