He headed the party for only two months.

Chairman of the UCP Party Vasil Paliakou resigned from the position of the leader of the organization. He was elected chairman of the United Civil Party on July 8, 2018, replacing Anatol Liabedzka, writes nn.by.

"At the end of two months after the congress, the newly elected chairman made a statement that he did not fully understand the problems existing in the party and the new challenges that the party and he as chairman face. The situation was aggravated by the impossibility of his moving from Homel to Minsk. On September 23, he appealed to the Political Council of the party for the resignation of the powers of the UCP chairman. The UCP Political Council accepted the resignation of Vasil Paliakou," the UCP press-center reported.

Vasil Paliakou is 49 years old. He comes from the village of Husarauka, Rechytsa district, and finished school there. Then he entered the Faculty of History at the Homel University. He completed the postgraduate course in the field of political science. Vasil Paliakou worked as a school teacher for 12 years, then got engaged into public activities. Paliakou is the leader of the democratic community of Homel.

Former Interior Ministry employee Mikalai Kazlou is now performing the duties of the acting chairman of the UCP party.
