Human Rights Defender From Svetlahorsk: our Cause Is Just

In Svetlahorsk, the people are struggling for the right to life.

Today, the district court of Svetlahorsk considered two administrative cases - of activist Anatol Zmitrovich and human rights defender Alena Masliukova, Radio Racyja reports.

They are accused of participating in an "unauthorized mass event," namely flashmobs against a Chinese plant on September 15 in the town square. As member of the human rights center "Viasna" Alena Masliukova said:

- In my opinion, the cases that will be considered in court are literally pulled out of a hat. The authorities thus try to intimidate people in the town so that they do not take part in the actions of resistance. And so they want to scare civil activists. But we are convinced that our cause is just, aimed at protecting human rights.

According to Alena Masliukova, in Svetlahorsk, the people are struggling for the right to life, against ecological genocide.

Important to note, the plant for the production of bleached pulp recently appeared in the town, people are worried that it threatens their health and the environment. It often stinks in the neighborhood.
