Russia’s "Oil" Maneuver To Make Hole In Belarusian Budget

Why is Moscow depriving Belarus of the oil dropper?

Multibillion losses of the budget and problems with payment of external debts – the tax maneuver of Russia is carrying these consequences for Belarus, Belsat writes.

The Ministry of Finance of Russia has recently announced its determination to complete it. Why is Moscow depriving Belarus of the oil dropper?

By 2025, Russia intends to finish the tax maneuver. The price of oil in the domestic Russian market will rise to the world one. The Russian government will collect the money to the budget not when the fuel is exported abroad, but straightway – through a tax on the extraction of minerals. The completion of the tax maneuver is inevitable.

The size of Russia's oil subsidy has been reducing over the past decade. Belarus continues to get cheap gas, but this is not enough to revive the economy, experts say.
