Belarusian writer Svetlana Alexievich has been elected one of the five vice-presidents of the International PEN Club. This is what Tatsiana Niadbay, head of the Belarusian PEN-Center, reported on her Facebook page.
This decision was taken in Manila (Philippines), where the 85th Congress of this organization is held.
The International PEN Club is an international human rights non-governmental organization uniting professional writers, poets and journalists. It was established in 1921.
In 1990, the Belarusian PEN Center was admitted to the International PEN Club.
