Dmitry Gudkov: Lukashenka Inspired Moscow Cops
Dmitry Gudkov

The Russian opposition politician has compared two dictatorships.

Leader of the Russian “Party of Changes” Dmitry Gudkov has written a post on Facebook about the price-list of the Belarusian police:

“In Belarus, the opposition has been paying for the “police services” at demonstrations since last January. That is, today’s lawsuit of the Moscow cops didn’t come out of nowhere, but was inspired by Mr. Lukashenka.

Even the figures are comparable. The cops demand RUR 18 million from the opposition, namely, Alexandr Solovyov. Under the Belarusian law, the action with over 1,000 participants in the city center would cost RUR 1 million and more. Then, they add up the expenses for wages and pensions to law-enforcers, medicines and detergents (either for them or for the roads - nobody knows that), and the expenses of other organizations.

In general, everything an official’s soul may wish, and the underdeveloped brain may think of. So, it appears we have taken on the fraternal Slavic nation’s experience successfully.

Also, there, beyond Smolensk, they still have death penalty, collective farms and annual attempts to pull the average salary in the country to $500, in case you don’t remember. Those attempts have failed so far.

We have somewhere to grow.

Frankly speaking, I feel pity for both us and the neighbours - living under dictatorship ruins any country practically equally.

Important to note, in the beginning of the year the Belarusian government set the tariffs for the services of the police, medical services, and defined the expenses related to cleaning the territory during mass events. It is said in the relevant document that, having obtained the authorities’ permit (or in case of absence of prohibition) for holding a mass event, an organizer is obliged to make agreements with the following services no later than in 2 days before the event: the internal affairs department, a medical institution, and a cleaning organization.

The services of the police on protecting the public order are the most expensive. The price depends on the number of participants in the action.
