Ihar Komlik: Authorities Remember Protests That Happened Two Years Ago
IHAR KOMLIK

One of the leaders of the REP trade union about why they decided to make a temporary relief for the "parasites".

It is well known that the deadline for paying for certain utility services at full cost by able-bodied citizens who are not employed in the economy is postponed to May 1, 2020, racyja.com reports.

The "parasites" have been compensating for hot water supply at full tariffs starting from January 1, 2019, and from October 1, 2019 - they were supposed to compensate for gas supply, in the presence of individual gas heaters, and heat supply.

- I think that such a postponement is related to the political campaigns that are currently taking place and will continue to take place. Now, for example, the parliamentary campaign is gaining momentum, and future pro-government deputies are already "winning over" the electorate. And the state is screwing them over with such a tax for the "parasites" in the heating season. And there are also presidential elections ahead.

That's why they decided to postpone the tax pressure until May 1, when the heating season ends. The authorities have probably decided to "cut people's throats" less painfully.

- Are they afraid that the public may react sharply to such a "gift" before the winter?

- Most likely, they just decided to be on the safe side.

The government is a good student, it remembers what happened two years ago when the tax on "parasites" was introduced. Mass protests took place all over the country. They do not need it now.

In short, the authorities invented this tax and now it is like a suitcase without a handle. It is a pity to leave it behind and it is hard to carry.
