The first head of independent Belarus commented on Lukashenka's statement about the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will "quickly cut Lukashenka down to size" for his statement that the conflict between Ukraine and Russia is going on in Donbas. This opinion was expressed by the first head of independent Belarus Stanislau Shushkevich in a commentary to the Gordon periodical.

"If Lukashenka knew what he was saying, he would hardly say it. He is very talkative. In fact, Lukashenka does not regard Russia as a subject that opposes Ukraine. But at the conference he suddenly said such a thing. I now wonder how he will react to Peskov's response. If Lukashenka really means what he said, it is that he has taken a respectable stance. But most likely, he just let it slip, and then will have to explain that he did not mean it. Although this is an official statement of the head of state that Russia is actually at war with Ukraine.
