Man Douses Bailiff With Flammable Liquid In Brest

According to the police, in the morning of October 9, a district resident born in 1950 entered the bailiffs’ office of the Brest regional enforcement department with a black bag in his hands, Brestskaya Gazeta reports.

The man began to outrage that they tried to recover from him the debts for unpaid fines for administrative offenses (imposed by the traffic police), and then he sharply pulled out a plastic bottle and began to pour clear liquid on one of the bailiffs, his workplace and the floor.

A district police officer of the Brest District Department of Internal Affairs, who was in the office on official business, standing with his back turned to the visitor, felt the smell characteristic of a flammable liquid and heard the cries of the employee of Department of Enforcement, reacted instantly and led the man aside. The attacker was detained by security officers.

A criminal case has been instituted against the man under Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code (violence or threat against an official performing duties), according to the Investigatory Committee. In the near future, the investigation will consider the issue of applying a restraint on him.

Currently, investigators are conducting the necessary investigative steps to clarify all the circumstances of the incident. An examination has been appointed to establish the chemical composition of the liquid.
