The activist was accused of "resisting during the detention".

Narodnaya Hramada activist Siarhei Sparysh was sentenced to 15 days of arrest for "flapping arms" while being detained by the police. This was reported to the Viasna human rights activists by Maryna Adamovich, the wife of Belarusian National Congress leader Mikalai Statkevich.

According to her, Sparysh was convicted on Friday, October 18, the day of his arrest. The court found him guilty of violating Article 23.4 of the Administrative Code ("disobedience to the demands of the police").

Siarhei Sparysh's relatives and associates were trying to find out about his fate in the police department, the detention center and the prosecutor's office all weekend, but the information about his arrest became known only on Monday, October 21.

We remind you that Siarhei Sparysh was detained before the beginning of the second trial in Dzmitry Paliyenka's case. The guards refused to let him into the courtroom. He was rounded up and taken out on the grounds that the judge forbade him to be in court. The commander of Minsk riot police, Dzmitry Balaba, was present at the arrest.
