Viktar Marchyk: We Need Urgent Changes All Belarusians Would Benefit From

An activist of the European Belarus civil campaign spoke on the state radio.

Candidate for deputy in Slonim electoral district # 58, activist of the European Belarus civil campaign Viktar Marchyk spoke on the state radio. The press-center of the European Belarus cites the text of his appeal to voters:

- Good afternoon friends. I am Viktar Marchyk, a parliamentary candidate in the Slonim electoral district, representing the civil campaign European Belarus, and participating in the so-called elections in order to improve the lives of Belarusian families.

Each of us sees that living in Belarus is becoming harder and harder. The economic situation is deteriorating, prices are rising, and salaries are being cut. More and more people are left without work and livelihoods. At the same time, the authorities raised the retirement age, corruption and lawlessness are growing.

A third of our compatriots, according to official statistics, cannot afford a minimal set of goods and services. Over 25 years, the population of Belarus has declined by more than a million people. Hundreds of thousands of our compatriots are forced to look for the opportunity to earn money abroad.

Our country has lived in the past for 25 years. Modern challenges and global changes require new solutions and approaches, but the state system worked and is working to maintain the power of one person.

Instead of a decent salary and protection of the interests of workers - a contract system; instead of creating modern industries - the conservation of old ways of managing; instead of normal scholarships and pensions - handouts before the elections; instead of modern medicine and education - parades and new residences.

The authorities are preparing to launch a nuclear power plant in Astravets, the construction of which was accompanied by scandals, accidents and the lies of officials responsible for its construction.

Belarus, which has already survived Chernobyl, faces a new, more terrible environmental disaster. And no matter how hard they try to persuade us of its safety, the human factor remains.

Our country is called the last dictatorship of Europe. We found ourselves on the sidelines of European economic and cultural processes. We stand for friendly and mutually beneficial relations with all countries, both with Russia and Europe, however, behind our backs, Putin and Lukashenka are negotiating to deprive Belarus of independence and include it in Russia. For us, this is not acceptable.

At the same time, our so-called deputies are inactive. This is because they represent the interests of those who appointed them as deputies, and not the interests of the Belarusian people.

We have been deprived of the right to choose our power; there are no free and fair elections in the country. How long we will endure this fraud and lawlessness of officials, depends on each of us.

We need a parliament in which there will be deputies independent from officials - real representatives of the people.

We need urgent changes that all Belarusians will benefit from.

The economy needs immediate treatment. The country needs a new economic course based on democracy, open competition and a market platform.

The civil campaign European Belarus, together with experts, developed a project of systemic reforms in the economy, medicine, housing and communal services, pension and other areas. We are sure that the whole system must be changed now. Otherwise, we will face further deterioration in the lives of our families.

Let me tell a few words about myself.

I am 53 years old. I am a Belarusian, I live and work in Slonim. I have a beautiful wife and two charming daughters. I work as a watchman at the Slonim Forestry.

I have an active life position, extensive experience in social activities. I took part in several internships in several European countries to exchange experiences in the field of socio-economic development. I met with deputies of various levels. I am ready to implement the experience I have gained for the benefit of Belarus.

In Slonim, I was one of the organizers of various events aimed at solving local problems. Collected signatures under appeals to the authorities for improving medical services to the population; for improving the quality of housing and communal services; for improving the infrastructure and cultural recreation of youth, children and their parents in our city; for the improvement of playgrounds, road repairs and much more.

We also helped a young family from Dziarechyn, Zelva district to defend their children. For far-fetched reasons, officials wanted to take away four small children from a young family. Thank God the children stayed with their parents.

We help residents of the Slonim and Zelva districts with humanitarian aid. To the extent possible, we provide people with the necessary assistance in solving various problems.

I believe that together we will overcome the crisis in which our country is now. Together we will defend the right of Belarusian families to a decent life!

I urge the residents of the Slonim and Zelva districts to support me and my team.

We will be together, and Belarus will be free. The wait is over.
