There Are 800 Children Per Pediatrician In Belarus

The shortage of pediatricians in the country is over 25%.

And this is taking into account the fact that in recent years the staff of pediatricians has increased and amounts to 74.3%. This was announced at a press conference by the head of the department of medical care for mothers and children of the Ministry of Health, Liudmila Liohkaya, kp.by reports.

Hrodna region is best provided with children's doctors, the most difficult situation is in Mahiliou region. The total number of pediatricians in the country is 3.5 thousand.

- Measures are being taken to improve the situation with the shortage of pediatricians. The Homel and Vitsebsk medical universities do not have a pediatric faculty, so for the third year in a row students of the medical faculty have been sent to the Pre-Graduate Internship in Pediatrics there. In the last two years, the enrollment in the paediatric faculties has been increased, and the target number of students has been increased. We are forming the demand forecast for 5 and 10 years for doctors of pediatric profile, - the representative of the Ministry of Health explained.
