The European Belarus activist has burnt her candidate’s certificate.

A Meeting of Free People is held again in Minsk today, upon the initiative of the European Belarus civil campaign. Activist of the European Belarus civil campaign Volha Nikalaychyk made a speech at this legal action in the Freedom Square:

- Dear friends, Belarusians have never been slaves. They led a war not only in their territories, but in the alien lands as well. Let us recall Tadeusz Kasciuszka, Kastus Kalinouski. One of my grandfathers died at the front in the Second World war, the other died of wounds. For what? For their granddaughter to live in slavery?

I went around over 2,000 people’s apartments, and all the people said: we want you to be our deputy, we want Iryna Khalip to be our deputy. They asked to lead them to the streets to protest. I want to say it out loud - we don’t have elections in our country, but we do have a choice! Our freedom is in out hands! Long Live Belarus!” Volha Nikalaychyk said before burning her candidate’s certificate.

Important to note, the first Meeting of Free People took place on November 15 in two Minsk squares at once, and gathered a thousand participants. The action was supported by independent parliamentary candidates, civil activists, and bloggers.
