The situation in Belarus was discussed at the meeting.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius met today in Vilnius with Natallia Radzina, the Editor-in-Chief of the Charter97.org website. The parties discussed the situation in Belarus during the so-called parliamentary elections, as well as the working conditions of Belarusian independent media, in particular, the Charter’97 website. In addition, the Minister was interested in the situation with the commissioning of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, the safety of which remains of a serious concern to our neighbors.
“I am very grateful to Minister Linas Linkevičius for the opportunity to openly and directly discuss issues that concern Belarusians today. The solidarity of the Lithuanian government supports and inspires. Lithuania understands well how security issues are closely interconnected with the issues of democracy and human rights,” said Natallia Radzina.
