Something unimaginable happens near the European Belarus campaign stands.

The coordinator of the European Belarus civil campaign, Yauhen Afnahel, shared his impressions about the "parliamentary" campaign in Belarus with the Charter97.org website:

- In fact, during this campaign both I and the candidates for "deputies" with activists, who stand in pickets, were inspired most of all by our fellow citizens - common Belarusians, about whom the dictator and his media say that they "do not get involved in politics", that they are supposedly "quiet people".

Every day of the campaign, and especially by the end of it, we get convinced that it is absolutely not true. If at the beginning of the campaign our pickets did not look quite usual for many people, now, when people have realized that we are participating in it not for the sake of "elections", but for the sake of the coming change of power, our fellow citizens regularly come to pickets both in Minsk and in the regions.

In general, something unimaginable is going on in the regions: our candidates, especially in Slonim and Mazyr, gather at the campaign pickets entire small-scale rallies every day, people do not just talk to the candidates, but communicate with each other and solve their problems.

And this people's spirit, their willingness to fight, to do something, to offer their solutions - this is the most inspiring thing.

- Which particular case is most memorable to you?

- It happened just recently. An elderly woman came to the picket in Minsk, talked to us (she is against the government, but is not an active oppositionist). And in the evening, she led her son, his wife and her grandchildren to the picket and told them: "Worthy people are standing here, take an example from them". They talked to us, gave us their contacts, joined European Belarus and said: "We really need your example, your flags and your presence in the streets".

For it is very important for the Belarusian majority, which is against the authorities, to get convinced that they are indeed the majority. That's why we need to take to the streets and campaign for an active boycott of the "elections," hold our pickets and meetings with residents of cities.

The people's attitude at the end of the campaign showed that they really want change and are ready to participate in it. And this is the most inspiring thing.
