Authors Of Law On Sovereignty Of Belarus: Lukashenka's Actions Are Anti-Constitutional Deal

Zianon Pazniak and the deputies of the Supreme Soviet of the 12th convocation have made an appeal.

The deputies of the Supreme Soviet of the 12th convocation, who in 1991 granted the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the BSSR the status of a constitutional law, called on the authorities to stop negotiations on integrating with the Russian Federation.

The appeal, the text of which has been provided by the deputy chairman of the Conservative-Christian Party - Yury Belenki, the former deputy of the Belarusian Popular Front, states that the preparation of documents on integrating is "the Russian plan on annexing and absorbing our country".

"Such actions on the part of the current Belarusian authorities are unconstitutional and illegal, contrary to the national interests of our people. There anti-constitutional negotiations must not be held. They must be stopped. All the arrangements of such negotiations will have no legal effect and are qualified as an anti-constitutional deal," - the deputies state.

The statement is signed by the deputies of the Supreme Soviet of the 12th convocation - Zianon Pazniak, Yury Belenki, Siarhei Antonchyk, Siarhei Papkou, Piotr Sadouski, Liavon Barshcheuski, Mikalai Kryzhanouski, Anatol Liabedzka, as well as activists and leaders of opposition parties and movements.

The document mentions street protests in Minsk on December 7 and 8 and states that "the general popular mobilization for defending the Fatherland has begun".

"We urge to support this initiative. May all Belarusians be united now by one idea - to defend the independence of the country. May a single idea unite them - to prevent Russia from seizing Belarus. We do not want integration with Russia. The choice here is as at war: either defense or capitulation," - the appeal says.
