Three Questions Following the Twist in the Pavel Sheremet Case
Pavel Sheremet

The Ukrainian edition, the Belarusian journalist worked for, is cautious about the police information.

The editorial Ukrainskaya Pravda, the Belarusian journalist Pavel Sheremet worked for, is cautious about the information published by the police about the investigation of his colleague's murder. It asks all those who know additional facts about the people mentioned in the investigation to inform the editorial board.

Editor-in-chief of Ukrainskaya Pravda Sevgil Musaeva announced this on Facebook:

"More than three years passed since his (Sheremet - ed.) murder. During this time we knew almost nothing about the investigation. The case was classified in the autumn of 2017, and the comments of law enforcement agencies said that the publication of any information could harm the investigation.

We welcome the fact that the investigation is ongoing. Speaking frankly, the voiced version of the investigation shocked us.

There are several questions remained unanswered during the briefing:

1. Who can be an assassin's paymaster? The version that such a crime could have been organized by a group of volunteers to destabilize the situation is questionable.

2. We do not understand the motives of the paymasters and executors. The goal voiced during the briefing - destabilization of the political situation in Ukraine - was not achieved.

3. Who was interested in the situation destabilization in the country at that time? Why do volunteers who supported the army during hardships need to destabilize the situation inside the country? Does the investigation suggest that a group of volunteers could act in the interests of Russia?

The editorial staff of Ukrainskaya Pravda will carefully analyze the facts voiced by the investigation team.

To learn the truth, Ukrainskaya Pravda appeals to all those who know additional facts about the people whose names were voiced as suspects, requesting to provide them to the editorial board".

It will be recalled that yesterday investigators reported that at least five people were suspects: Yana Dugar (the nurse of one of the paratroop battalions); Yulia Kuzmenko (doctor and volunteer); Andriy Antonenko (musician and volunteer); Volodyslav (volunteer) and Inna Hryshchenko.

According to the law enforcers, the conducted examinations say that Kuzmenko planted explosives under Sheremet's car and Antonenko helped her.

The investigation also considers destabilization of the socio-political situation in the country as the main reason for the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet.
