Residents of the city tell us why they came out to defend the sovereignty of Belarus.

Yesterday, more than a hundred Hrodna residents took part in the rally to support Belarus' independence and against "deepening integration" with Russia. The people were standing with posters, white-red-white flags. Later, they lined up in a human chain.

Businessman Ivan Bialenik told reporters that he had come to the rally because he wanted to live in an independent country:

- I want to live in a free, independent country. I want my children to live in such a country. I believe that Belarus must be independent. It's good to have friendly relations with both the West and the East, but they should be just relations, not "integration" or something like that.
