The closed nature of the negotiations suggests a surrender of sovereignty.
"In my opinion, Lukashenka is only engaged in what sells Belarus and its sovereignty," - the head of the United Civil Party, Mikalai Kazlou, says.
"It seems that he's selling some serfs. A whole nation, having no idea what he's talking about, is behind him. It seems to me weird. And as for the trust in his words, what have we only not heard for a quarter of a century? What has he not promised? Let's remember only one thing: the gas pipe. He said it was a national treasure. This is our energy security. And then suddenly it became a rusty pipe, which he sold profitably," - the politician says in his commentary to Radio Racyja.
"That's the whole story of Aliaksandr Lukashenka and the whole of him. Therefore, it's impossible and dangerous to trust him. No one knows exactly what these secret negotiations with the Russian leadership are about. And the closeness suggests that this may be a trade of the country behind the backs of the people," - Mikalai Kazlou believes.
