The countries have signed a corresponding agreement.

On February 13, Poland and Belarus signed a social security agreement that guarantees workers the same rights as in their home countries.

The agreement will allow Belarusians who work in Poland and Poles who work in Belarus to receive the right to temporary unemployment benefits, the right to child support and other major workers’ rights, Belsat reports.

“Employees have the opportunity to insure against accidents at work and retirement – the most important social guarantees that the state should provide to employees,” – Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Belarus Valer Kavalkou said in Warsaw.

From January 1, 2019, the size of state unemployment benefit in Belarus ranges from 21 to 51 rubles. The unemployment benefit can be received no more than six months. At least once a month, the person has to check out at the labor exchange.

In Poland, the unemployment benefit amounts to 847 zł (or about € 200) in the first three months and 665 zlotys (about € 150) in the next three months after registering in the special register of unemployed.

Now the treaty is waiting for ratification. In parallel with the ratification process, Poland and Belarus will work on an administrative agreement to implement this agreement after it enters into force.
