According to the press-center, the organizers of the conference invited the dictator to take part in a panel discussion on February 16 on the theme “East-West relations” together with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, and OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger .

- The Belarusian side was preparing a visit of Lukashenka to Munich. However, at the very last moment certain temporary overlaps arose. Due to the need to solve important issues of the Belarusian-Russian relations during the negotiations with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in Sochi, the participation in the Munich conference at the Lukashenka level was not possible at this time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Belarus at the 55th Munich Security Conference will be represented by Ambassador of Belarus to Germany Dzianis Sidarenka. The event will also be attended by the Chairman of the State Security Committee Valer Vakulchik.

Last year at a meeting of the Core Group of the Munich Security Conference, which was held in Minsk, a German diplomat, chairman of the conference, Wolfgang Ischinger, invited Lukashenka to Munich to attend the conference in 2019.

Yesterday, the Deutsche Welle newspaper, citing the press service of the forum, said that Lukashenka would not come to the International Security Conference, which will be held in Munich from February 15 to 17.
