Brest Regional Court made this decision.

On February 8, the Brest Regional Court announced the decision on the case of the district police officer's murder and the murder attempt against his two colleagues. The senior prosecutor of the prosecutor’s office of the Brest region Hennadz Bury reported this to tut.by by.

The 57-year-old man committed the crime on August 17 last year. On that day, he began shooting at the district police inspectors, who conducted a routine check on the storage of weapons. One district police inspector died on the spot, the second was seriously wounded, and the third managed to hide behind a concrete fence.

The wounded was first taken to the Ivatsevichy district hospital. When his condition became stable, the district police officer was transported to the republican hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The forensic psychological and psychiatric examination has established that the shooter had a mental disorder at the time of the commission of socially dangerous acts and is currently having it. Considering this, the man was not charged.

The regional court examined the criminal case and announced the decision on February 8.

A resident of Ivatsevichy district was discharged from criminal liability for committing a socially dangerous act in a state of insanity. Forced security measures were applied to him and he was sent to compulsory treatment in a psychiatric hospital with strict supervision, Hennadz Bury said.

The court decision has not entered into force and can be appealed.
