Leanid Zaika: Lukashenka Has Grudge Against Urban Best Brains
LEANID ZAIKA

The dictator is afraid that the entourage will notice his incompetence.

The head of the analytical center Strategia Leanid Zaika said this in an interview with Belhazeta.

– Why is this mess still going in the economy of Belarus? Maybe because the same intellectual cohort of Miasnikovich, Semashka, and Andreichanka surrounds Lukashenka for 25 years already?

– They surrounded him, as Lukashenka had grudge against he urban best brains. Apparently, he is afraid that someone might notice that he does not know something there. When I was appointed to the post of vice-rector, the rector said that he had a principle: to appoint deputies who are smarter than him. But Lukashenka can not overcome the dislike of smart people and to appoint them as such assistants. This is his mistake.

Lukashenka is a hostage of the red-directorial and green-agrarian nomenclature, which flourished in full bloom already under Kebich. And although the ruler distributes clicks of his finger on officials's foreheads, he is still a hostage of the nomenclature. It did not disappear anywhere, but it lurked like partisans.

During more than 20 years these partisans built palaces, cottages in Spain and France instead of dugouts. They are gained commercial connections, having integrated their children and relatives into the system.

Such are the Belarusian nomenclature partisans.

– As a result, a center-down economy management system has been created. It is still preserved, yielding very poor financial results.

– And who could tell Lukashenka about the theory of mixed economics, about the German theory of ideal types of farms, when from a centrally managed economy they switch to a competitive market economy? Who could tell him about the Chinese experience in detail? Who could tell him that at first there was a two-track economy there, but then the public sector was eliminated while the share, weight and importance of the private sector began to grow? Nobody. He should have appointed smart people into the government. There's no point to be afraid of them. They will not brag their minds, unlike a girl of easy virtue, who is always ready to show her underwear.

Lukashenka did not read David Ricardo, who proved that profits and wages are moving in opposite directions. Lukashenka ordered his fighters to “raise” wages. None of them told him that this undermined Ricardo’s theory. The officials just snapped a salute and allegedly “raised” the wages by 17%. And profits fell.
