Brest Regional Executive Committee’s Chairman Fears Bloggers, Journalists

The Brest residents have accumulated a lot of questions to the local authorities.

24 accredited persons - exactly this number of people were allowed to meet with the chairman of the Brest regional executive committee Anatol Lis, the beginning of which was announced at 11:00 on March 14, Radio Racyja reports.

The relevant information appeared in the social networks of the opponents of the construction of a battery plant near Brest, who, together with independent journalists, wanted to take the opportunity of the meeting. “We wanted to ask sore questions to the leadership of the region,” said famous Brest blogger Siarhei Piatrukhin:

- Mr. Lis does not want to see me, although he let in other non-accredited bloggers. I saw in the stream that they were there. This is incomprehensible. Such are the double standards. I'm definitely interested in the battery plant. Why did Comrade Lis sign an agreement with an investor for the construction of this plant with such violations?

In total, about 10 opponents of the construction of the battery plant and independent journalists gathered on the steps of the regional executive committee and did not manage to get to the meeting. “According to the Constitution of Belarus, citizens have the right to full access and dissemination of information about the activities of state bodies,” the people were outraged.
