March In Memory Of Ghetto Jews Held In Hrodna

The procession went along Zamkavaya Street up to the synagogue.

The march dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust has been held in Hrodna for five years. In mid-March, the city remembers the people who were killed during the Second World War. Of the nearly 30 thousand Jews, who once lived in Hrodna, only 200 people survived after the war. Two Hrodna ghettos were destroyed on March 12, 1943, tut.by reports.

Every year, in the middle of March, people gather in any weather at the site of the former ghetto No. 1 in Zamkavaya Street in Hrodna to pay tribute to the memory of the dead citizens. The March of Memory traditionally begins near a memorial plaque installed near the entrance to the ghetto.

This year, the Hrodna freak-theater “Hexogen” has taken part in the event, its actors staged an interactive performance about the people who lived and died in the Hrodna ghetto.

The March of Memory traditionally went along Zamkavaya Street up to the synagogue, where a concert and exhibition “At the Command of the Heart”, organized by the Yad Vashem Museum (Jerusalem) with the support of the United Nations Development Fund, were held.
