Changes In Traffic Regulations Proposed In Belarus

Cyclists may be allowed not to dismount at crossings.

Cyclists may be allowed not to dismount at regulated pedestrian crossings. Relevant changes are proposed to the traffic regulations. Now cyclists are required to get off the bike and cross the road on foot.

The norm on crossing the street by cyclists is included in the draft amendments to the Rules of the Road. Aliaksandr Zanimon, Head of the Law Enforcement Department of the Traffic Police, has informed about it today in the House of Representatives, BelTA reports.

The Traffic Police proposes to leave in the rules the norm, which obliges cyclists to dismount only on unregulated crossings. At that, when approaching the highway, they may be obliged to slow down, and on the crossing they will not go faster than pedestrians.
